Denver, CO – May 22, 2025 – The Colorado Department of Public Health and Environment, the Denver Department of Public Health and Environment, and Denver International Airport (DEN) have issued a warning about a potential measles exposure at the airport and a nearby hotel. An out-of-state traveler with a confirmed case of measles passed through Denver International Airport, possibly exposing others to the highly contagious virus.

Denver International Airport
Location: 8500 Peña Blvd, Denver, CO 80249
Date/Time: Tuesday, May 13, 5 – 8 p.m.
Details: The infected traveler arrived at Gate A-27 in concourse A at 5:10 p.m., then proceeded to international customs and baggage claim.

Quality Inn and Suites Shuttle
Date/Time: Tuesday, May 13, 6 – 8 p.m.
Details: The unvaccinated traveler may have exposed others inside the shuttle to and from the hotel near DIA between 6-8 p.m. on Tuesday, May 13, and 5-7:30 a.m. on Wednesday, May 14.

The risk of measles has been elevated in parts of Colorado due to low vaccination rates. Individuals with confirmed cases have reported exposures linked to outbreaks in Texas and New Mexico.

Measles Case in Boston:

The Massachusetts Department of Public Health has identified a case of measles in an international visitor who traveled through Boston to Amsterdam while infectious on Saturday, June 22. The public health agencies urge those who may have been exposed to monitor their health for symptoms within the next seven to 21 days.

It is crucial for individuals to ensure they have received the required doses of the measles, mumps, and rubella (MMR) vaccine to prevent the spread of this highly contagious disease.
