Newgarden Dominates Rain-Delayed IndyCar Practice at Bommarito Automotive Group 500
IndyCar driver Josef Newgarden showcased his prowess by leading the rain-delayed opening practice for the Bommarito Automotive Group 500 presented by Axalta and Valvoline. Driving the No. 2 PPG Team Penske Chevrolet, Newgarden clocked an impressive top lap of 178.243 mph on the 1.25-mile oval just east of St. Louis in Madison, Illinois.
This strong performance comes as no surprise, as the two-time series champion has secured five career victories in just nine starts on this particular track. Newgarden’s dominance continued as he led the delayed first IndyCar practice at WWTR, despite the lengthy delay due to rain.
After enduring a delay of over eight hours, Newgarden finally took to the track with determination. His speed gradually decreased as the laps went by, but he managed to maintain his lead until the end, claiming his fifth win at WWT Raceway and marking his 31st career victory in IndyCar, solidifying his position in the top 10 for all-time wins.
Teammate Scott McLaughlin put up a strong fight, securing the second-fastest time during the practice session. However, it was Newgarden who emerged victorious, outrunning McLaughlin and the rest of the competition to clinch another impressive win in his race car driver career.
In the intense world of IndyCar racing, Newgarden’s consistent success and unrivaled skill behind the wheel continue to solidify his status as a top contender. With this latest triumph at the Bommarito Automotive Group 500, Newgarden has once again proven why he is a force to be reckoned with in the world of motorsport.
