Recovery Underway: Mike Lynch’s Sunken Superyacht Raised from Seabed
Salvage crews have successfully lifted Mike Lynch’s sunken superyacht, Bayesian, from the seabed off the coast of Sicily, marking a crucial step in the investigation into the accident that caused the death of the British tech tycoon and six other individuals. The salvage operation led by HEBO LIFT 10 and HEBO LIFT 2 floating crane ships has now recovered the luxury yacht and its boom, which sank in August 2024 near Porticello, Palermo, Italy.
The hull of the Bayesian superyacht breached the surface of the Mediterranean Sea as cranes pulled it up from the seabed where it had been lying since the tragic incident last August. The recovery operation has seen progress with the removal of the mast, allowing the hull to be brought to an almost upright position, expediting the process.

The salvage company overseeing the operation confirmed the retrieval of the main boom and anchor from the sunken yacht.
As efforts continue to recover the luxurious 56-meter Bayesian yacht struck by a storm while anchored off Porticello, near Palermo, questions remain about the circumstances leading to the tragic accident that claimed seven lives.
