India Celebrates 11th International Day of Yoga with Signature Events

India will commemorate the 11th International Day of Yoga (IDY) on June 21, 2025, with ten Signature Events under the theme “Yoga for One Earth, One Health.” These initiatives aim to expand yoga’s global outreach and reinforce its role in health, culture, and sustainable living.

History, Significance, and This Year’s Theme

The International Day of Yoga (IDY) 2025 will be the 11th installment of the global event since its inception in 2015. Announced by Prime Minister Narendra Modi during his ‘Mann Ki Baat’ address on March 30, 2025, this year’s theme, “Yoga for One Earth, One Health,” aligns yoga practice with the global movement towards holistic well-being.

Celebrations Across the Country

Prime Minister Narendra Modi is all set to headline a grand-scale International Yoga Day celebration in Andhra Pradesh with the flagship event ‘Yoga Sangam’ showcasing yoga at one lakh locations nationwide. The Prime Minister led the celebrations and took part in a Yoga session, extending warm greetings to people across India and the world on this auspicious occasion.

Archaeological Survey of India Hosts Yoga Sessions

On the occasion of International Day of Yoga, the Archaeological Survey of India (ASI), in collaboration with Ministry of Ayush, will host Yoga Sessions across 81 centrally protected monuments. Additionally, entry to all ASI monuments will be free of cost for the public on this day, as per the Culture Ministry.

Global Participation and Unity

India’s resolution in the United Nations General Assembly to recognize June 21 as International Yoga Day garnered support from 175 countries, showcasing global unity and solidarity. The Indian Council for Cultural Relations (ICCR) will organize yoga events and programmes in 191 countries to mark the International Day of Yoga, promoting peace and well-being worldwide.
