Furthermore, engaging in moderate exercises like walking, dancing, or climbing stairs has been shown to enhance memory for up to 24 hours, providing an effortless way to improve brain health.
The benefits of physical activity are not limited to specific age groups or fitness levels. Research indicates that even small amounts of exercise can contribute to improved brain health. Dog owners, for example, tend to walk an average of 22 minutes more per day compared to non-dog owners, showcasing the positive impact of regular physical activity. Cycling and high-intensity interval training (HIIT) have been linked to significant improvements in executive functioning, which involves working memory, planning, and multitasking capabilities.
Overall, the study underscores the strong correlation between physical activity and cognitive health, demonstrating that as little as five minutes of exercise can yield noticeable brain benefits.
