India Orders Boeing: Inspections Ordered After Air India Crash

Following a tragic Air India crash that resulted in the loss of at least 270 lives, India’s aviation regulator has issued a directive for the inspection of all Boeing 787s operated by local carriers.

The incident occurred when a London-bound Air India plane crashed into a medical college hostel in Ahmedabad, India. As the investigation focuses on the engine, flaps, and landing gear, authorities are urgently conducting safety checks on the entire Boeing-787 fleet.

According to a statement from Air India, nine of its Boeing 787 aircraft have already undergone the required inspections. The Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA) has mandated enhanced safety inspections on the Boeing 787-8/9 fleet of Air India in light of the recent crash.

The regulator has instructed Air India to submit all inspection reports for review. The crash, which took place shortly after takeoff, resulted in the loss of 241 passengers and all 12 crew members on board.

With the safety of passengers and crew a top priority, the DGCA’s directive aims to ensure the airworthiness of all Boeing 787 Dreamliner aircraft operated by Air India.
