Gaza Humanitarian Foundation Faces Chaos in New Aid Distribution System
The distribution centers of the much-criticized new aid system for Gaza were mired in new chaos as the Gaza Humanitarian Foundation (GHF), backed by the U.S. and Israel, struggled to distribute aid effectively. Under the new system, aid is supposed to be distributed from militarized compounds, but the process has faced numerous challenges.
Chaos erupted at the Gaza aid hub, with armed American contractors facing difficulties in the distribution process. Despite the challenges, approximately 8,000 food boxes have been distributed so far, highlighting the urgent need for assistance in the war-torn region.
The GHF is at the center of a controversial new aid distribution scheme, aiming to overhaul the existing system led by the United Nations. However, the organization has faced criticism as the distribution efforts devolved into disorder in the first days of operation.
Before the war, hundreds of aid trucks entered Gaza daily, but the new aid system has struggled to meet the needs of Palestinians who have been blocked from assistance for over 11 weeks. The GHF’s attempts to provide aid have been met with challenges, with U.N. officials reporting that the distribution process has been chaotic.
Despite the setbacks, the GHF remains committed to providing aid to the people in need while ensuring the safety of Israel and preventing Hamas from accessing supplies. The organization continues to work towards improving the aid distribution system and addressing the challenges it faces.
